20 One-Minute Tasks to Tidy Up Your Yarn Room

Quick Clean Up

Cleaning isn’t always fun, but having a tidy, organized yarn space can make a huge difference in your creativity and enjoyment. Instead of overwhelming yourself with a full deep-clean, try these 20 one-minute tasks to keep your yarn room fresh and inviting!

1. Set Up a Donation Bin

Designate a space for yarn and finished objects (FOs) you no longer need. Having a visible bin makes it easy to drop in items as you go.

2. Put Away New Yarn Immediately

Instead of letting bags pile up, take a minute to place new yarn acquisitions directly on your shelf or storage system. HERE'S my favorite yarn storage system.

3. Quick Floor Sweep

A fast sweep picks up stray yarn scraps, pet hair, and dust, making your space feel instantly cleaner. Check out my favorite broom set HERE. If you're feeling "extra" and want to mop, I  love my O Cedar spin mop!

4. Declutter Surfaces

Clear off unnecessary items from tables, shelves, and any other catch-all spots in your yarn room.

5. Empty Out WIP Bags

Sort scrap yarn, return hooks to their designated spot, and toss any trash from your project bags. CLICK HERE to see how cluttered mine were!

6. Check for Cobwebs

A quick swipe with a broom or duster in the corners can freshen up your space. HERE is a great duster!

7. Vacuum Curtains

Instead of washing and ironing, run a hand vacuum over curtains to remove dust and fibers. We use our SHARK HAND VAC all the time!

8. Organize Crochet Books

Gather all your crochet books into one spot—whether on a shelf, stacked neatly, or displayed creatively.

9. Refresh Your Yarn Display

Rearrange a small section of your visible yarn storage for a fresh look and renewed inspiration.

10. Clean Windows

Spray and wipe down windows to let in more light and brighten your workspace. HERE'S what I use!

11. Dust Light Fixtures

Remove and clean light fixtures to enhance brightness in your yarn room. If you need additional lighting, I recently bought THIS HANGING LAMP that's doesn't require any hardwiring. It's even got a dimmer.

12. Wipe Down Shelves

A quick dusting or wipe-down will keep exposed surfaces clean and free of yarn fuzz. Here's one of my FAVORITE ALL PURPOSE SPRAYS.

13. Sanitize Light Switch & Doorknob

Wipe down these high-touch areas to keep your space fresh and germ-free. I use that same all purpose spray on these areas too. Get it HERE.

14. Shake Out Area Rugs

Take small rugs outside for a quick shake to remove dust and fibers.

15. Sort Through Scrap Yarn

Toss tiny unusable bits and store longer scraps in a designated bin.

16. Rewind Unraveled Skeins

Tidy up any partially used skeins to prevent tangles and frustration later. HERE'S a great choice if you need a ball winder.

17. Sort Hooks & Needles

Gather all your tools and return them to their proper place.

18. Clear Off Your Desk or Work Table

A clean surface makes crafting more enjoyable and organized, plus you don't need to waste time when you want to start creating the moment inspiration hits! If youo  love organizing content, HERE'S a playlist to watch!

19. Empty the Trash Can

A small but effective way to keep your space feeling fresh.

20. Light a Candle or Use a Room Spray

A nice scent can make your yarn room feel cozy and inviting! HERE'S an amazing scent from Mrs Meyers.

By doing just one or two of these tasks a day, you’ll keep your yarn room feeling neat, tidy, and ready for creativity! Watch the YouTube video here!

How I Modified A Hexagon Cardi for Mid & Plus Size

Hexagon Cardigan Modifications Hey yarn lovers! If you're a midsize or plus-size crocheter looking for ways to customize your hexagon cardigan for a more flattering and comfortable fit, I’ve got some great tips for you. I recently finished my second hexagon cardi and made a few modifications that helped me feel more confident wearing it. Here’s what I learned! The Inspiration Behind My Second Hexagon Cardi A while back, I made a basic hexagon cardigan using Red Heart Super Saver yarn. While I loved the pattern and even won a blue ribbon at my county fair, I wasn’t sure I would actually wear it. It felt a bit too boxy and oversized for my liking. This time, I decided to use Herrschners Witches Brew yarn for a fun Halloween-inspired version. Get the yarn HERE . Since I wanted to ensure I would love wearing it, I made a few tweaks to improve the fit and feel. Key Modifications for a Better Fit 1. Adjusting the Shoulder Fit Instead of making the panels overly large, I measured my sho...

All The Details On This Popular Crochet Border

Perfect Border for Your Blanket Recently, one of my older YouTube Shorts started gaining a lot of attention. It featured a beautiful crochet border, but I didn’t go into much detail about it in the short. Since many viewers found it through searches for crochet borders, I wanted to take a moment to discuss it in more depth. The Inspiration Behind the Border The border I used in that video comes from the YouTube channel Hectanooga1, created by Emmy. She demonstrated the border on a small square, but I adapted it for my blanket. One key difference between my version and hers is that I used it on fleece rather than a crocheted piece. To prepare the fleece, I used a rotary cutter with a skip blade to create holes along the edge. Then, I worked a foundation row with Red Heart Super Saver yarn before adding the decorative border. If you want to use this border on a non-fleece blanket, you can simply crochet a round of double crochets before starting the decorative edge. My Favorite Bla...
