My Perfect Spot
Do you have a special spot in your home just for you—a place where you can relax and indulge in your favorite fiber craft? Whether you crochet, knit, or spin, you deserve a cozy nook to call your own. Today, I’m sharing how I created a warm, inviting space in my living room, along with some must-have items that have made my crochet time even more enjoyable.
Many of you know me for filming in my "yarn room," which is actually a guest bedroom. But this winter, that room has been unbearably cold—one of the joys of living in an old farmhouse in the Midwest! I needed a warm, comfortable alternative, so I set up a new space in my living room.
The Essentials for a Cozy Crochet Nook
1. Comfortable Loungewear
I have to be comfortable when crocheting, or I get distracted and make mistakes. My go-to for cozy nights is my Joyspun velour jammies from Walmart. They’re a seasonal item, but every fall and winter, Walmart releases new ones. Keep an eye out—you won’t regret grabbing a pair!
2. The Right Seating
I adore vintage furniture, but let’s be honest—it’s not always the comfiest. While my vintage chair is charming, it wasn’t ideal for long crochet sessions. So, I found the perfect mid-century modern couch on Amazon. It’s stylish, provides great support, and blends seamlessly with my vintage décor. Check out the LINK HERE!
3. A Weighted Rice Bag for Extra Comfort
My aunt made me a microwavable rice bag, and it’s a game changer! A quick 90-second zap in the microwave, and it feels like a warm hug. It helps relax my shoulders and keeps me cozy while I work.
4. Proper Lighting
Good lighting is essential, especially since my living room lacks overhead lights. I found a dimmable hanging lamp on Amazon that provides the perfect brightness for crocheting without straining my eyes. CLICK HERE to check it out!
5. Yarn Storage & Organization
Keeping my yarn projects organized is a must. I used to leave yarn everywhere, but it just created clutter and made it hard to keep track of my WIPs (works in progress). Now, I use my Bobble & Puff cube organizer, which fits neatly under my end table and keeps my yarn safe from my pets. 6. The Perfect Cozy Yarn
Right now, I’m working on a corner-to-corner scarf using Lion Brand’s “Let’s Get Cozy” Chenille Appeal yarn. It’s ultra-soft with a beautiful drape—perfect for cozy projects. I’ll link it HERE if you want to get this cozy yarn!
7. Thermal Curtains for Warmth & Ambiance
Even though I have a fireplace, my large windows make my living room chilly. I finally invested in custom velvet curtains, and they’ve been life-changing! They add warmth, block excessive light, and bring a luxurious feel to the space. If you’re interested, I have a discount code you can use! Setting the Mood
Once I have everything set up, I like to turn on some music. My current go-to? Frank Sinatra on vinyl. Unfortunately, I can’t share the tunes with you, but just know that’s the vibe I’m creating in my cozy little corner! While my music is vintage, my turntable isn't. You can enjoy vintage records too on THIS TURNTABLE from Amazon.
Create Your Own Cozy Nook
I encourage you to carve out a special place just for you. Even if your taste is different from mine, having a dedicated space for your craft makes all the difference. If you struggle with getting started because of disorganization or distractions, setting up a cozy, accessible nook might be just what you need.
