So, I’ve never been someone who shops for yarn on Amazon. I always figured there were so many better options out there—yarn stores that specialize in fiber, have beautiful selections, and honestly better prices.
But lately, I’ve been refining what kinds of yarns I like working with, and what types of projects I reach for most often. That got me thinking… maybe it’s time to take another look.
So I gave myself a little challenge:
Could I find yarns on Amazon that I actually loved, at prices that felt fair?
Spoiler alert: I was pleasantly surprised.
And yes, I’m sharing all the yarns I found below—with affiliate links—in case you want to check them out too. If you use those links, it helps support the blog (at no extra cost to you), so thank you for that!
🧵 My Yarn Criteria
I was specifically looking for:
-
Fine weight yarns – fingering, sport, or DK
-
Blends I love – wool, cotton, acrylic
-
Affordable bundles – around $15–$16
-
Free shipping with Prime (a must!)
🧶 Yarn #1: Elize Angora Gold (Solid Color)
This was one of the first yarns I found—and I was instantly drawn to the deep jewel-tone teal.
-
Weight: Light Fingering (1)
-
Fiber: 80% Acrylic / 20% Wool
-
Yardage: 600 yards per ball
-
Quantity: 3-pack
-
Price: Around $16
It came vacuum sealed, so it looked a little squished at first, but it fluffed right back up! I plan to use this for a lightweight wearable (maybe two!), and I’m genuinely impressed with the yardage for the price.
🧶 Yarn #2: Elize Angora Gold (Multicolor)
Very similar to the first, but this one came in a beautiful mocha-toned variegated colorway.
-
Same fiber and yardage: 80/20 acrylic/wool, 600 yards
-
Quantity: 2-pack
-
Price: Around $16
These colors are so me—warm, cozy neutrals that would look gorgeous as a shawl or garment.
🧶 Yarn #3: YarnArt Angora Active
Another lightweight wool blend, and honestly a bit softer than the Elize yarns.
-
Weight: Light Fingering (1)
-
Fiber: 80% Acrylic / 20% Wool
-
Yardage: ~550 yards
-
Price: ~$8 per ball
-
I bought 2, so I have almost 1,100 yards to work with!
If softness is a big factor for you, this is one to check out. It feels great in the hand, and I can already picture this as a lacy layering piece.
✨ Yarn #4: YarnArt Flowers Moonlight
Okay… THIS ONE. I might be in love.
-
Fiber: Cotton, Acrylic, and Metallic Polyester
-
Yardage: 1,000+ yards!
-
Price: Around $16
-
Colorway: Warm golds, browns, and a shimmery thread woven throughout
This is possibly my favorite commercial yarn I’ve ever purchased. I’m planning to make a Virus Shawl out of it because I think the sparkle and color gradients will look stunning in that pattern.
🛍️ Final Thoughts
Yes—Amazon still isn’t my go-to place for yarn. But if you’re careful, check the shipping details, and know what to look for, there are some hidden gems to be found.
