This One Shawl Brought Back My Crojo

I have a confession: I’m usually so bad about weaving in my ends.

Seriously, I have an entire tub full of projects that are practically finished, but the ends aren’t woven in. I sometimes joke that it’s a character flaw of mine. But the truth is, it keeps me from wearing and enjoying the things I worked hard to make!

So today, I decided to finish a project I absolutely love. And I brought you along to be my accountability buddy. 😊

A Shawl That Sparked Something

This shawl was made with YarnArt Flowers Moonlight, a gorgeous gradient yarn with a subtle gold thread running through it. I first showed it a couple videos ago when I talked about starting a boho shawl (it was only about halfway done back then).

Now? It’s finished. Ends woven in. And I’m completely in love with how it turned out.

I’ll link the video tutorial for the pattern, and if you’re interested, I got the yarn on Amazon, it’ll be linked, too.

Why It Worked for Me

This project was simple but powerful. Here’s why it helped me get my crojo back:

  • The yarn spoke to me. The colors, the texture, the shimmer-everything about it brought me joy.

  • I made it for me. There was no pressure to get it done fast or make it perfect.

  • It fit my style. Boho, oversized, soft, and full of personality.

  • I kept it simple. Instead of fringe, I added a soft shell-picot-style edging that gave it texture without going over the top.

And the best part? There were only two ends to weave in! The yarn’s gradient meant I didn’t have to change colors or weave in dozens of strands. Highly recommend that trick if you’re an end-weaving avoider like me!

When You’re Feeling Stuck

Lately, I had been feeling a bit creatively burnt out. Not because of anyone else-just from putting too much pressure on myself. But this shawl reminded me that sometimes the best way to reset is to do a project that’s exactly you.

If you're feeling the same way, maybe put your other WIPs aside for a minute. Grab that yarn you’ve been saving for something special. Pick a pattern you’re excited about or make something up. Make it just for you. And trust that the other projects will still be there when you’re ready.

Sometimes, finishing just one thing can reignite everything else.

How I Modified A Hexagon Cardi for Mid & Plus Size

Hexagon Cardigan Modifications Hey yarn lovers! If you're a midsize or plus-size crocheter looking for ways to customize your hexagon cardigan for a more flattering and comfortable fit, I’ve got some great tips for you. I recently finished my second hexagon cardi and made a few modifications that helped me feel more confident wearing it. Here’s what I learned! The Inspiration Behind My Second Hexagon Cardi A while back, I made a basic hexagon cardigan using Red Heart Super Saver yarn. While I loved the pattern and even won a blue ribbon at my county fair, I wasn’t sure I would actually wear it. It felt a bit too boxy and oversized for my liking. This time, I decided to use Herrschners Witches Brew yarn for a fun Halloween-inspired version. Get the yarn HERE . Since I wanted to ensure I would love wearing it, I made a few tweaks to improve the fit and feel. Key Modifications for a Better Fit 1. Adjusting the Shoulder Fit Instead of making the panels overly large, I measured my sho...

New to Hobby Lobby? Here’s What You Need to Know About Shopping for Yarn

If you're new to shopping for yarn at Hobby Lobby, let me help you avoid some rookie mistakes. I’ve learned a lot over the years, and today I’m breaking it all down so you can shop like a seasoned pro, especially when those big clearance sales roll around! Start with the Weekly Sale Schedule First things first: Hobby Lobby runs on a weekly rotating sale schedule . That means every week, different departments go on sale. The yarn section, is it's own department. When it’s that department’s turn, all the yarn will be 30% off. Here’s the catch: that sale only lasts a week, and the schedule rotates every other week. So if you’re walking into the store when yarn isn’t on sale, it has switched to a fabric sale week. I advise checking online before shopping and planning accordingly.  Hobby Lobby’s Yarn Brands Hobby Lobby carries a few big-name brands, like Lion Brand, but the real stars of the show are their private label yarns. These are exclusive to Hobby Lobby and in...
