If you’ve ever wondered whether Hobbi or Lindehobby is the better place to buy yarn online, you’re not alone—and I’ve done the legwork (and the clicking!) to compare them for you.
In this post, I’m breaking down my shopping experience with both Hobbi and Lindehobby—two popular online yarn stores based in Denmark. I’ll share what I ordered, what I paid, what surprised me, and which one I’d buy from again.
Let’s dive in!
🧺 Why I Ordered from Lindehobby in the First Place
You might already know Hobbi—they advertise a lot and have a huge social media presence. But Lindehobby? They aren't as well known so I ended up placing an order to try them out.
And then I thought: Why not compare it to Hobbi and see who gives the better deal?
📦 What I Ordered: Same Budget, Different Hauls
To keep things fair, I gave myself the same budget for both stores: $30 worth of yarn, plus $5 shipping for each, for a total of $35 per order.
Here’s what I picked up:
From Lindehobby ($35 total):
From Hobbi ($35 total):
-
Several 50G skeins of Daily Cotton
🇩🇰 Shipping Times & Packaging
Both orders shipped from Denmark and arrived within 10–14 days, which I think is totally reasonable for international packages.
-
Lindehobby packed everything neatly in recyclable plastic, and the yarn was in great shape.
-
Hobbi used a branded plastic mailer, and the yarn was also in perfect condition.
No complaints from me on shipping or packaging from either store!

💰 The Price Breakdown: Who Was Cheaper?
With the same $30 yarn budget at each store, it was easy to compare:
-
Lindehobby edged out Hobbi in terms of cost per gram—but the difference was small.
-
They both offer solid value, especially for plant-based yarns like cotton.
-
Since both sites had shipping charges under the free threshold, I paid $5 extra at each—but even factoring that in, the totals were nearly identical.
📌 Tip: Both shops display prices in your local currency and include VAT (which is removed at checkout for U.S. customers). Always double-check your final total!

🧶 Yarn Quality & Selection
If you’re after bright colors and playful packaging, Hobbi has a strong brand identity and a huge range of their own-label yarns.
Lindehobby, on the other hand, stocks yarns from Mayflower, Viking of Norway, and other European brands. Their site feels more like a curated shop.
Both are excellent for plant-based yarns like cotton and bamboo blends, but if you're looking for more traditional or lesser-known European yarns, Lindehobby might surprise you—in a good way.

🛍️ The Shopping Experience
Both websites are easy to navigate, with clear filters and lots of color options. But there were a few differences:
-
Hobbi offers a “Universe” of resources—free patterns, apps, points programs, and weekly emails. It’s more community-driven.
-
Lindehobby felt more straightforward. Fewer bells and whistles, but I didn’t mind—it was easy to shop and checkout.
Final Verdict: Who Wins?
Honestly? Both stores are great, and I’d buy from either one again depending on what I needed.
But if I had to pick a winner…
👉 Lindehobby wins for me this time—mostly because I loved discovering new yarns like Mayflower Hawaii and appreciated their pricing transparency.
That said, Hobbi remains a favorite for cotton basics and fun extras like their points program and app. They’ve earned their loyal following for a reason!
✨ Would I Order Again?
Absolutely. In fact, I already have a wishlist started on both sites. 😊
If you’ve shopped at either Hobbi or Lindehobby, I’d love to hear what your experience was like—especially if you’ve found any hidden gem yarns.
This whole experience has me thinking I may need to update THIS POST!
